Notes for Frederick Baesman:
In the obituary of his wife Louisa (Jackson Standard, Jackson, Ohio,

Minneker in this small town. He also homesteaded twenty miles
north of Dawson.
Before moving to the farm, Henry Minneker carried mail to the rural
area as far south as Napoleon, North Dakota, a distance of twenty five

Germans to America, Volume 42, pg. 99 & 105. Ship Ohio from
Messina, Naples, Palermo and Trieste arrived Baltimore 10 April

parents), and Hermann Thuel, age 39; Clara, age 30; and Johann, male
infant, age 6 months. (Clara was pregnant with Mary when they arrived,
since she was born in December of the same year. Johann must have died
as an infant, since he is not listed in the Niewoehner Family Tree,
1972)
Note: This bio states that Clara moved to North Dakota in 1902
and then married Henry Minneker. The family tree lists a son,
Garry Minneker, born in 1898. Was the 1902 date wrong? Did
Clara marry before moving?

with no results. (Niewoehner Family Tree, 1972)

Notes for Herman Heinrich Berghegger:
From parish records, Hermann Heinrich Bergheger was a "Markkotter" in
Monkehofen at the time of the marriage of his daughter Katharina Engel.
Markkotter means that Hermann owned a small farm (Kotten) which had
been established in the "Mark" - land that was used by all members of
the community. These "Kotten" had been part of an heir before they
became a separated farm.
Children of Herman Berghegger and Anna Korfhage are:

and 27. Anna Elisabeth Bohmann.
Notes for Johann Adam Heinrich Kraimer:
Adam Heinrich Kraimer took his wife's name because she was the heir to
the farm. His name is listed as Adam Heinrich Niemann in the
church records at Schledehausen for the baptism of his son, Johann
Friederich Niemann. Information on the marriage of his
daughter Maria Engel lists his name as Johann Adam Niemann. It is
believed that he was called Adam. Johann was often used as a
second name, even when someone was not baptized with it.
Johann Adam Heinrich Kramer, Colonnus Niemann in Grambergen 13a, born
1777, died Jan 21st (buried 24th) 1829. He was the son of Johann

Notes for Anna Elisabeth Niemann:
Perhaps Anna Elisabeth's brothers died in infancy? That would be
the most likely explanation that she was the heir of the farm.

August 22, 1795 in Krevinghausen, Germany; died March 20, 1868 in
Krevinghausen, Germany.
Notes for Johann Heinrich Wilhelm Wefel zum Felde:
The suffix zum Felde was dropped in the church records after c. 1820,
making it difficult to determine which family members belong together
(Wefel zum Felde vs. Wefel zu Grambergen). Those family members
who emigrated dropped the suffix. There is also some confusion
regarding Johann Heinrich Wilhelm's name. In the Laumann family
tree he is listed as Johann Heinrich Wilhelm. He may have been
baptized Johann Wilhelm and then later was called Heinrich
Wilhelm. Per Anke Waldmann, Grambergen, Germany, February 22,
2003.

Adam Phillip Berghegger and 43. Anna Gertrude Pieper.
Notes for Johann Herman Wilker:
Per Anke Waldmann, Johann Herman was from Monkehofen. She believes he
may be from parish of Schledehausen, but more research is needed to
find out.
Notes for Marie Elizabeth Berghegger:
From the Ortssippenbuch of Ostercappeln, Marie Elsabein Berghegger born
February 5, 1758, daughter of Adam Phillip Berghegger and Anna Gertrude
Pieper. Elsabein and Elisabeth are often mixed up. (Note, I
originally had birth year of 1754 - Anke to doublecheck this.)

1752. He was the son of 52. Raban Wilhelm Joes Hermann Niemann
and 53. Anna Catharina Lurmann. He married 27. Anna Elisabeth
Bohmann.
27. Anna Elisabeth Bohmann
Notes for Anna Elisabeth Bohmann:
Anke Waldmann (who provided the information on this family from her
research, Feb 2, 2003) wonders if Anna Elizabeth Bohmann was a sister
to Johann Adam Bohmann. If so, Anna Elizabeth Niemann and her
second husband would have been cousins. One indication that this
could be true is that one godmother of Ahnna Elisabeth Niemann was Anna
Angela Borgstette, who could be a sister to Catharine Gertrud Bohmann
nee Borgstette.
Children of Johann Niemann and Anna Bohmann are:
i. Hermann Henrich Niemann, born September 07, 1783.
ii. Joannes Adam Niemann, born August 28, 1785.

v. Gerhard
Heinrich Mehrpohl, born April 27, 1783; married Catharina Maria Pante
Abt. 1815; born February 25, 1783.
Notes for Gerhard Heinrich Mehrpohl:
Per info from Anke Waldmann, 2/16/2003, Gerhard Mehrpohl and Catharina
Pante are called Niemann (from Wulften, not Grambergen). Their
son Gerhard Wilhelm Niemann married Katharine Elisabeth Laumann and is
shown in the Laumann family tree.
What we know is as follows: Gerhard Wellmar Gerding, born 1755
was called Colon Niemann at the time of his first marriage in 1790 to
Catharine Marie Thiemann. This would suggest that he was married
previously to a woman who had inherited the Niemann farm in Wulften or
that Catharina was a widowed Niemann. When he married Catharina
Maria Pante, he was still Colon Niemann and so his children would have
also been called Niemann. It appears that there were no surviving
children of the first marriage because when he died, his widow
remarried and her second husband was also called Niemann because the
heir of the farm wasn't of age. This is what led to Gerhard
Wilhelm Mehrpohl getting the name Niemann.
vi. Johann Friedrich Mehrpohl, born December 11, 1785.
vii. Johann
Gerhard Heinrich Mehrpohl, born July 16, 1789; died January 24, 1790.

Notes for Gerhard Wellmar Gerding:
At the time of his first marriage in 1790, Gerhard is called Colon
Niemann. It is unknown at this time if he was married previously
to a woman who inherited the Niemann farm or if his first wife was a
widowed Niemann. His children with his second wife are called
Niemann. For a son of this marriage to inherit the Niemann farm, there
must have been no surviving children from the first marriage.
When Gerhard died, his widow remarried and her second husband was
called Niemann as well. Thas is how Gerhard Heinrich Mehrpohl got
the name Niemann. Per Anke Waldmann, Feb 17, 2003.

16, 1697; died December 16, 1721. She was the daughter of 210.
Adam Waldmann and 211. Margarethe Elisabeth Niemann.
Notes for Joes Gerhard Knost:
Joes took the name of Niemann when he married, because his wife had the
farm, and names went with the farm. After the death of his first
wife, he was the owner of the Niemann farm until his son reached at
least the age of 25 (depending on kwhen his son married, for normally
the son got the farm when he married). As owner of the farm, his
name remained Niemann even after the death of his first wife, and so
his daughter with his second wife was also named Niemann.
